Prophetic Scripture Paintings

"The Seed And The Sower"

In this parable, Luke 8:5 - 15, Jesus teaches that the Word of God is like a seed to be planted in our hearts. Because every seed grows a crop like itself, those whose hearts receive the Word will grow a harvest of love.

"I Am The Vine"

In John 15:1-8, Jesus tells us "I Am the Vine, My Father is the vinedresser", challenging us to abide in Him and His love. In verse 5 says, "I Am the vine and you are the branches. He who abides in Me bears much fruit." Verse 8, "By this My father is glorified."

This print is also available without the scripture.

"Peace, Be Still"

The disciples cried out to Jesus in the dark and stormy sea. Afraid for their lives, they shouted, "Master, do you not care that we are perishing here?". At His words, "Peace! Be still!" the wind ceased and there came a great calm. Their faith increased. Mark 4:39 He calms the storms of our lives when we cry out to Him.

"I Am The Way"

My challenge was to paint an "I AM" saying of God. I remember reading how the Lord led the Children of Israel out of Egypt through the Red Sea and the wilderness to The Promised Land. He appeared before them as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. In Exodus 3:14, God revealed Himself to Moses as "I AM that I AM". To those who are lost, Jesus says, "I am the way". John 14:6

"Gone Fishing "

I participated in an annual religious art show for many years. One year the theme assignment was to depict the ʻMission of the Churchʼ. Notice all the activities of the church portrayed. Among others, there are the sharing of fellowship, baptism, healing, dancing for the joy of the Lord. See the masses of people approaching the sea. They come! Who do you suppose the fisherman represent? Peter, James and John? Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? OR, You and me, sister and brother? They cast their net for the catch of many souls. Jesus said "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."

" Parable of The Good Samaritan"

Starting at the top, and working on down through the painting, one can read this story of rescue and love. Notice three symbols of the Holy Spirit upon the head of the beaten man. Oil and wine are used for anointing and healing, and His presence, is represented by the dove.

"Parable of the Ten Virgins/Let Your Light Shine"

As you follow the reading of the parable throughout the painting, notice the five lamps full of oil, that shine brightly, illuminating the darkness as they wait. Also see the five whose oil has been depleted and need to be refilled by the Holy Spirit, symbolized by oil. I see the heap of lamps is also lit by the fire of Godʼs love, as together we await the Bridegroomʼs coming at the sound of the last trumpet.

"The Lion of Judah"

This piece was commissioned to be used as a patter for a church banner. Standing in His place as ruler of heaven and earth, ʻKing of Kingsʼ and ʻLord of Lordsʼ, Jesus will reign forever. The enemy has bruised His heal, but He has dealt the crushing blow to the serpentʼs head.

"Peace To You"

In John 20: 26-29, Jesus appeared to his disciples after his resurrection, in His glorified body. They had been grieving His loss, confused about why it had all happened, and wondering how that could been Godʼs plan. They were glad when they saw the Lord, but Thomas wanted the proof of seeing and touching His hands and side. Jesus said, "Blessed are they who do not see, and yet have believed."

Peace To You

"The Holy of Holies"

This painting depicts the time of Jesusʼ crucifixion, when the tall and heavy temple veil was torn in two from top to bottom. This is symbolic of the believerʼs access into the presence of the Lord. He has opened the way for us.

"You Never Let Go"

In December of 2003, I experienced a near death car accident followed by the five hour trauma surgery to save my life. As I became conscious, I had a strong sense that I was being held in Father Godʼs hands of love and care. A contemporary Christian song being played on KLOVE in those days, sang out my proclamation: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, Your perfect love is casting out fear. Even though Iʼm caught in the middle of the storms of this life, I wonʼt turn back, I know You are here. And I will fear no evil, for my God is with me. And if my God is with me, whom then shall I fear? Oh No, You never let go, through the calm and through the storms... You never let go of me". Among the many hands that reached out to me, I painted my rescuer, my surgeon, my husband, my family, and Jesusʼ nail scarred hand. Like a shield, He held it up as He shouted, "NO!", declaring life for me. My recovery has been remarkable. Thank You, Lord!

"Dark Against Light/The Meaning of Life"

Challenged by a conversation with another art student who was struggling with the meaning of life, I prayed for a response to his question... "what do you say is the meaning of life?" The resulting poem is filled with terms an artist considers when creating art. The bottom line is that life gets itʼs meaning and purpose in lifeʼs Creator, Jesus.
